Associate Professor Sandra Iuliano is a senior research fellow in the department of medicine, University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on the role of nutrition across the lifespan on musculoskeletal health. She has worked extensively with older adults with an emphasis on food-based approaches to prevent falls, fractures and malnutrition. Her work has results in the inclusion of nutrition in National Falls Prevention Guidelines, the Aged Care Quality Standards and the new Aged Care Act in Australia and FAO policies. She presented evidence at the Royal Commission in aged-care and is a member of the National Aged-care Advisory Council. She is a strong advocate for improving nutritional care and quality of life via improved food provision among older adults, especially those in aged care.
