PROFessor mark lawrence
Deakin University
Mark is Professor of Ecological Nutrition at Deakin University and Fellow of the Nutrition Society of Australia. He has over 40 years’ experience working as a practitioner and an academic in food policy and regulation. Mark has published 4 books, 16 book chapters, 165 peer-reviewed papers. He has >15000 citations, an H-index of 56, supervised 18 PhD students and secured >$7 million in category 1 - 4 research grants.
His research interests focus on developing an ecological nutrition paradigm to guide evidence synthesis and translation for food policy and regulation to promote healthy and sustainable food systems. He applies this research to his current roles as:
• Chair, IUNS Task Force on Ultra-processed foods.
• Member, WHO’s Guideline committee for Optimal intake of animal-source foods.
• Advisor, WHO’s Guideline committee for Ultra-processed foods.
• Member, NSA’s SIG on Sustainable diets and food systems.
